Update: End of 2022
Hello everyone!
2022 has been a pretty intense year for me,not just for the Polar Night project but in my personal life too. I experienced a pretty intense health scare in late September that kille my progress for a bit, which thankfully turned out to be nothing life-threatening.
Beyond that, I've got about 30k words for Day 2 which doesn't even include all possible paths, so the next update will not be lacking on content!
With that said, the next update, while I have a more concrete view of what needs to be done now it is almost completely written, still needs a lot of work. I have an editor I am paying to go over what I have written, plus some more paid commissions from my artist that are yet to be complete, but despite this, I am confident I can code the Day 2 content with what I have.
In case anyone isn't on my Patreon, I've been taking December off on holiday, but I intend to start coding Day 2 in earnest in the new year! I also hope to have the last few assets I need to complete it done by end of January also, so the next build is within sight!
You might be wondering about why this has taken so long, and that is a perfectly valid question. First: I am working on this in my spare time, typically weekends, paid leave or whenever I have some free time after work during the work week. I am also limited by the rate at which I can commission assets. I do not want this story to rely on stock assets, the theme and atmosphere wouldn't work in that case. This then involves me needing to pay for, and wait for the completion of, art assets.
I make no apology for this approach - I want this, an atmospheric horror and mystery story, to feel like one. I regret this means I cannot offer a consistent update schedule, but as far as I'm concerned, I'd rather each update be the best I can achieve rather than do what I did with Day 1, where I went with entirely stock assets besides the character sprites.
My plans for the near future are to get the last of the art assets for the Day 1/2 parts as well as custom music. While I like the stuff I bought, I feel the game could benefit from a soundtrack built around it, consistent and made just for it.
To those who have read this far, and especially those who have contributed anything, no matter how much - thank you, from the bottom o my heart. I fully intend to dive right back into the project in the new year after a rest and relaxation pariod. Until then, my gratitude fr your interest and support!

So long as the potential paths, if/since that is what you intend to do, are at least midway through the day I will have no issue. If its near the start I would honestly be fine with that, Day 1 gave us a fair amount of interactions with everyone to help show them in different situations allowing us to get different views of their personalities. The interactions are also at length, so we are not left with only one thing to consider, even if we may be partial to some of them. It gives us reason for pause, to contemplate the potential ups and downs going forwards. I will be happy for the work you have put into this, it is something to value.
Take all time you need, don't worry.
Thank you for your work.
